Pioneer 76 year-old Great Grandmother From Santa, Njong, Cameroon Debuts Musical Career.
As the saying goes, it is never too late! 76-year old Cameroonian great grandmother debuts her musical career with a CD entitled "YAHWEH" In Cameroon, we would simply say "Wonders shall never end." This event adds new meaning to the saying, never too late.
Mangie Susan Aleri Zama came to the United States in 2001 to help baby-sit her grand children. It was during this time that her son, Benjamin Zama, a musician, rediscovered her talents. Growing up, "we took Mom's singing for granted. I mean, Mothers just sang to their children or in the choir. Right? But listening to her sing to her grandchildren, my musician's ear heard something different, something special. So, I decided to take her into the studio to have her voice recorded just for fun." Little did Ben know what he had just started.
Mangie Susan sang so well the first time that the idea of immortalizing her voice on CD was born. Ben began in earnest to work on the music, and collaborated with a host of friends to produce the beautiful sounds and songs you hear on the CD today. The work took about two years to complete, with trips to Boston, Washington DC and Chicago.
With the release of her CD, Mangie Susan Aleri Zama is a pioneer in her age group to debut at age 76, and we definitely wish her long life and success in her new hobby, career?.
